Get your taxes done right today in the tax extension filing season
If you are like me, you’re probably wondering where the summer went. I mean, we are already just weeks away from the school year starting up again and our vacation time dwindling right before our eyes. The fleeting summer has probably turned your thoughts to a topic that isn’t as fun- your tax extension (sorry to remind you).
You’ve had your time to play, but now it’s time to get serious again.
But look, it won’t be as painful and such a dreaded process this extension season because you’re going to get all the help you need right now.
So don’t give up on me just yet. I’m going to give you the easy steps and resources you need to make this a stress free filing for you.
First off, let’s ease your insanity with a quick overview of what needs to happen to make sure you don’t freak out about filing your taxes at the last minute.
Tax Extension Deadline
The due date for your tax returns are as follows:
Corporations- September 15th, 2016
S Corporations- September 15th, 2016
Partnerships- September 15th, 2016
Individuals- October 17th, 2016
You have already filed your business and/or personal tax extension. That’s good.
Now it’s time to complete the process which means more money for you as you utilize Incite Tax and our expertise.
It’s not about filing taxes. It’s about keeping more of your money
I want you to have a change of mindset. Don’t think of filing your taxes as a drag. Think of it as the time you get to take advantage of the tax code because your trusted tax advisors do it differently.
Ok, keep that momentum and mindset as you approach this small tax filing hurdle.
Gather your tax docs
What you need to do now is just send your tax documents to email@example.com and they will be directed to your professional.
Click below for a list of the most common items used to prepare tax returns.
BUT it gets even better. If you’ve worked with us before, we actually have a specific list of tax documents you’ve given us in the past. We can email you that list to help you know what to look for and make sure nothing is missed. Just get a hold of us by phone or email to request that list.
Once those are all put together send them our way through whichever method you prefer (email, fax, Dropbox, carrier pigeon, our client portal, or dropping them off).
Your tax documents will then be carefully input and your professional will maximize your situation to your greatest benefit. Awesome right?
Remember, it takes time.
Just wanted to point something out to help you as we look into the future. I’m writing this post on August 2nd. We have a two week turnaround to process tax returns.
If you were to get us your business financials next week for your business, you’d still just barely make the deadline. So don’t procrastinate this any longer. You’ll feel better that it’s done right and done on time. I promise.
Pain…Lots of Pain
I did want to also mention something that deals with pain and frustration. When your tax extension was filed, you were “graciously” awarded an extension to file, not an extension to pay.
Now, if your tax returns are not submitted before the due date, there is no way of getting out of penalties. It becomes a pain to get off of the IRS’s list of nastygrams and the penalties are painful.
Just don’t let this happen ok? It is better to talk with your professional now to get things taken care of.
Can’t Pay the Tax?
Some people ask, “What if I can’t pay the tax?”
You need to file your taxes anyway and pay what you can when you can. You’ll be leaps and bounds better off than if you were to wait to file and pay when you get a gift from Great Granny Betty.
You’ve procrastinated long enough and now is the last time to get your taxes filed to avoid issues with the IRS.
Email your tax documents to firstname.lastname@example.org, and you’ll be on your way to less stress and more money!
