Ready to talk about using “Smaller Plates”?

Allow me to clarify what is meant when we say “smaller plates”, because no, I am not referring to meal planning or portion control.
In Mike Michalowicz’s book “Profit First” as well as in my own book “Profit First For Microgyms“, we discuss a study that was done on Americans regarding plate sizes.
What they noticed was that Americans would fill their plates and then would eat everything on that plate no matter the size of the plate.
We all seem to have been raised on this idea that we must clean our plate at every meal. Studies found that when they shrunk the plate size, people would still fill their plates and eat the whole thing, but would feel just as satisfied as they did with the larger plate.
You may be wondering what this has to do with money…
Think about how you use your operating account. Most gym owners have one account that all the money flows into and then back out of. One large “Plate”, if you will. What if you set yourself up with smaller “Plates”?
With the Profit First method, gym owners are able to handle the flow with a lot more ease, by dividing them up into these smaller “plates”
